Michael P. Foley, Ph.D. will address

How the Mass Shaped the Western World.

Dr. Foley plans to present his view that nothing has transformed Western civilization like the celebration of the Mass.  He will discuss how, from architecture to music, from city names to scientific terminology, from urban design to the judicial system, the Eucharistic liturgy of the Roman rite has left an indelible mark on our lives.

Michael Foley holds a doctorate in Catholic Systematic Theology and is an associate professor of Patristics in the Great Texts Program at Baylor University, a published author, and frequent speaker.  Dr. Foley’s articles have appeared in First Things, Homiletic and Pastoral Review, Lay Witness, Crisis, The Latin Mass, Touchstone Magazine and The Wall Street Journal.  He discusses a number of topics dealing with faith and culture, films, theology and liturgy
